Ginny and Colin both once had a crush on Harry Potter. They don't even try to deny it any more, when their friends tease them. It was very different for each of them, though.

Ginny wanted to be Harry's girlfriend. It hurt her for a long time that he only saw her as Ron's little sister, someone to be protected when necessary but otherwise ignored. She's got over it now, and they're friends.

Colin, on the other hand, just wanted to be Harry for a long time. It took a realisation that Harry's life wasn't perfect to make him grow up. He's got over it now, and is living his own life.

After all, they've both found something better.

Remus sees James, when he looks at Harry. Apart from the eyes, he's so much like his father it's frightening. That took quite some getting used to, and for some months, Remus had to watch his words, so he didn't accidentally call Harry by the wrong name.

He's come to view it as a second chance. He lost James to Lily, to adult responsibilities, and to death. But death will not take Harry, if he has anything to do with it. Perhaps he couldn't save the man who was once his lover. But by Merlin, he *will* protect James' son.

Ginny is glad Harry got over Cho. Some people would say, uncharitably, that that's because now he might notice her. But that's not true.

She's equally glad and relieved that Harry's shown no sign of seeing her as anything more than his friend and Ron's sister. She genuinely hopes that he'll find someone who loves him, and who he can be happy with. He needs that more than anyone, after all.

And Ginny has found someone of her own.

The real reason she's glad he's over Cho is because, otherwise, he'd be crushed when he found out about them. And she never wants to hurt him.

Penny is concerned for Padma. She knows that her younger housemate is in the first stages of a relationship with Lavender Brown.

But she also knows from the school grapevine that Lavender had a thing for Parvati, not so long ago, and was turned down. And maybe she's over it, but Penny is worried that she might have turned to Padma solely because she and Parvati are twins.

There's nothing she can really do about it except watch, and be ready to pick up the pieces if necessary. Saying something would only hurt Padma. But God, if Penny wasn't seeing Percy, she'd be tempted to steal her from Lavender.
