How embarassing. From a discussion on mine own homestead on LJ occurring this very moment. :-D
Here it is:
I have to be honest.
I don't think Michelle Pfeiffer could pull off the depth this role requires. Marisa's a pretty integral part of the novel's structure. She has to be terrifying. She has to be absolutely riveting, she has to be brilliant, she has to convey volumes with the slightest gesture, she has to be preternaturally graceful. Michelle Pfeiffer, while she certainly could pull off Marisa's patrician beauty, doesn't have the substance, methinks.
