Is all good! You can still tag him now if you want, and I'll reply after dinner.
Oh, god, that's you as Felicia? *cackles*
I thought she didn't like Shulkie after that thread, or that I was boring you to tears when the two of them met.
I have no idea what's going on, but the sad consequence is that this sorta wank scares me away from trying to play there more. But then, I remember that the game I co-mod has occasionally spawned wank, and that for the most part it still plows ahead, with most players just not letting it affect them or giving a damn.
No, he/she's just like that. Random bitchiness doesn't mean he doesn't like you. He's just... not always very stable.
And yeah, that's pretty much how it is here, most of the time. Something happens, it makes waves, but then it all settles back down.
He didn't strike me as bitchy at all towards Shulkie, it's just difficult to sometimes get a mun/character reading when you've got really short replies to work with and it's your first time RPing with said mun/character.
But Felicia is love. Shulkie seriously thought she'd grabbed Gambit's costume and assembled it into a poodle skirt. That was fun.
Oh, the short comments never mean I don't want to play with you. Well, certainly not with you, or anyone else likely to be reading this.
Just my style, or sometimes it means I'm either overthreaded or at work and not supposed to be threading at all, and I'm working on altering it. :)
That's the problem with unfeeling capitalism, brutally stifling our creative whims, juices and whatnot in favor of work.
I forgot to shower you with love for being Lee Scoresby. My god, I have a pup that would really, really dig meeting him.
Did you see that Nicole Kidman got cast as Mrs. Coulter for The Golden Compass?
Wrry, God, wrrrrryyy?
Oooh. Which pup? He should be around for a while longer, at least - I haven't quite decided if I'll keep him yet or not.
...well, she looks right, at least?
I...don't hate me, but I actually don't think she can pull this off, Mrs. Coulter. Marisa, to me, has a sleek undercurrent of menace and imtimidation that Nicole just can't seem to attain in her previous cinematic appearances, at least.
As for the pup, well...that will have to be a surprise. Or maybe I'll do a flocked post on my LJ with a full pup disclosure, since I don't usually disclose everyone I write in all of my games to people to the general public for privacy reasons.
I'll say this: she has one thing in common with Scoresby: she loves to fly.
Have they cast Lee, yet? I use Lee Van Cleef as his PB, because the author said something in an interview about him being the inspiration. Which would be fine, except the man never smiles.
*grins* I shall be looking out for it.
I don't know who they've cast as him yet, but the IMDB page is up, showing the casting of some of the other characters.
I'm very nervous about this one. I love His Dark Materials with a passion, and I'm terrified they're going to be totally incapable of achieving the sheer scope of the books on celluloid, you know what I mean? Pullman's imagination could fire a few thousand suns, methinks. How are they going to render the complexity of that world onto film?
I'm more worried about what Hollywood will do to the religious themes...
'Zactly! I mean, I'm all
for the Pullman School of Badass Angels. But when I think of what passes for skillful treatment of religion in Hollywood films, what is in fact usually obscenely blunt and clumsy treatment, I cry bitter tears. I mean, I'm afraid that the director will try to cast the film with a moral center that's religion-based, which to me is not what the books are about at all.
I'm sure the religious community will be up in arms over this film, whether pro or con, and the internet will break, their will be boycotts, and it will all make fandom_wank at least five times over the next two years.
Because I love your list of muses, you dig this here question I posed to the flist.
And that's if it's done WRONG.
...oh, man. Only three words?
You're allowed four. Ready, set, GO!
*sets timer and goes back to own LJ to wait*
*might dig, even.
That's it. I'm not allowed to type for the next hour until my brain can get properly wired to my hands.
*jumps into conversation* Nooooooooo!
It's...plunged me into Existential Rant ModeTM.
She's just so very, very unsuited for the role. She has a sort of self-conscious fragility that is totally unsuited for Marisa Coulter. Jennifer Conolly I could see, even, perhaps, a less unctious and more talented Catherine Zeta Jones, but Nicole Kidman?!
I had an entire LJ rant that I prepared earlier in the day about this, but then I had to rant on my LJ today about another bizarre casting choice of one of my favorite characters in the entire universe.
I'm posting the Nicole rant tomorrow.
