everything changes; nothing is forgotten

(no subject)

One of my grandfathers was an airman, an engineer, based out of India and "fighting the Japs" as he tells us at every family gathering.

The other wasn't conscripted, and wasn't allowed to enlist, except in the Home Guard (which he did). He was a farmer, and the government knew he and his like were far more useful staying at home and doing their job.

They both served. And I don't forget.
