Personally, I like the companies that let you register and domain name and host with them. Sometimes, transferring a domain to a host can get costly.

Depending on what you need your webpage to do, free hosting over at doteasy.com might be good enough (though you wouldn't get cgi access). They charge a $25 domain registration, which is good for a year, but you don't have to pay for webspace, which makes it a good deal.

Two other hosting companies I like are godaddy.com and ipowerweb.net. I've had reliable service from both and customer service is pretty on the ball. Both have pretty low costs for hosting, but you usually have to pay either six months or a year all at once. Still, it comes out cheaper than places like Geosuckies.
